According to a survey by Crypto Head, the 2021 Crypto Ready Index is based on a study of 200 countries and regions worldwide, including the number and accessibility of cryptocurrency ATMs in each country or region, the legality of cryptocurrencies, and whether banks can use them. When calculating the "crypto readiness" index for these countries or regions, the online search popularity and increase of key cryptocurrency-related keywords were also taken into account, with a maximum score of 10 points.

According to the results of this "crypto readiness" index survey, the United States ranked first with a crypto readiness score of 7.13 (out of 10), followed by Cyprus in second place with a score of 6.47, Singapore in third with a score of 6.3, Hong Kong in fourth with a score of 6.27, and the United Kingdom in fifth with a score of 6.06.

Taiwan scored 4.86, with a total of 15 ATMs across the island, averaging one ATM per 1,567,613 people. The online searches for cryptocurrencies have increased by 47.3% this year compared to last year. Taiwan's overall score is higher than that of South Korea and France. The survey only lists the top 76 countries online, and China's ranking is not included.

According to Crypto Head data, the United States has 17,436 cryptocurrency ATMs, nearly 16,000 more than the second-ranked Canada. This is mainly due to companies like Coin Cloud rapidly expanding and installing Bitcoin ATMs throughout the U.S., leading to significant growth in Bitcoin ATMs. The rapid growth of Bitcoin ATMs undoubtedly highlights the increasing popularity of Bitcoin as a payment method.

Based on this data, Crypto Head further studied the average number of people using each cryptocurrency ATM. The United States also ranks first, with one cryptocurrency ATM for every 19,023 people, followed by Canada with one for every 26,265 people, and Japan with one Bitcoin ATM for every 126 million people, ranking at the bottom. However, among the surveyed countries, there are still 24 countries and regions that have not installed cryptocurrency ATMs.

Crypto Head also gives bonus points to countries with favorable legal environments for holding cryptocurrencies, ranging from 1 to 2 points. If cryptocurrency is legal, the country receives 1 point, and an additional 1 point is given if it is allowed to be used in banks.

Finally, Crypto Head compared online search data related to cryptocurrencies from the previous year to show whether people's interest in cryptocurrencies has increased in each country or region.

The results show that Cyprus ranked first, with an increase of nearly 137% compared to last year, while Romania had the largest increase in cryptocurrency search volume.
