Founder of Cash App Murder Case: Bob Lee involved with killer's own sister, inciting drug use and leading to murder plot
Cash App founder and MobileCoin product lead Bob Lee was fatally stabbed in San Francisco on April 4th, sparking concerns over the deteriorating local street safety. Some media outlets even linked his death to conspiracy theories involving other deceased cryptocurrency entrepreneurs.
The Wall Street Journal conducted interviews with friends, colleagues of Bob Lee and the family of the perpetrator Nima Momeni, as well as reviewed investigative records from the local prosecutor's office. The investigation revealed that Bob Lee had a long history of drug abuse and may have been killed due to his involvement with the perpetrator's younger sister and encouragement of drug use.

Suspect: Nima Momeni
Suspect's sister, wife of a prominent plastic surgeon: Khazar Momeni
Prior to his death, Bob Lee, who was active in the tech circle among the elite, often engaged in drug and sex parties with specific individuals, known within the circle as "The Lifestyle." The autopsy report revealed that Bob Lee tested positive for multiple drugs, including cocaine and Ketamine.
Friends of Bob Lee indicated that the 43-year-old had a romantic relationship with Khazar Momeni, who is 38 years old, approximately three years ago.
The suspect Nima Momeni is said to have a history of drug use but was not considered an insider in the party scene. Described as reclusive and introverted, his IT consulting company seemed to be struggling, a stark contrast to his charismatic sister.
The Stabbing of Bob Lee
Prosecutors stated that on the afternoon of April 3rd, Bob Lee met Khazar Momeni at a party in San Francisco.
After the party, witnesses claimed that the suspect Nima Momeni questioned Bob Lee about his sister's potential drug use or involvement in any misconduct, to which Bob Lee assured him of no wrongdoing.
Subsequently, Nima Momeni and Bob Lee went to a luxury apartment in the Millennium Tower in San Francisco, then proceeded to the Rincon Hill neighborhood.
Prosecutors indicated that Bob Lee was taken to a dark alley in the neighborhood, where Nima Momeni allegedly stabbed Bob Lee multiple times with a kitchen knife approximately 4 inches long and swiftly left the scene. Bob Lee was found on the roadside, called for help, and was taken to the hospital but unfortunately passed away.
Bob Lee's Wife's Defense
Despite being separated from his wife, Bob Lee maintained a close relationship with Krista Lee. He frequently visited his children and planned a family trip to Japan in August. Krista Lee refuted claims of Bob Lee's party lifestyle:
He was kind and generous, able to see the good in everyone, and a responsible, mature father.
She also questioned allegations of Bob Lee's drug use, suggesting that at most, he used a minuscule amount of Ketamine to treat depression.
Dana Wagner, former legal counsel for Block, stated:
Bob Lee could adapt to different people. He was creative, adventurous, loyal to friends, and could see the good in everyone. However, he associated with some unsavory characters, which led to the tragedy. That circle was full of people keen on partner swapping, infidelity, and fraudsters.
Suspect Denies Guilt
The suspect, Nima Momeni, is currently detained without bail and is set to appear in court at the end of May. His defense attorney, Paula Canny, raised doubts about the surveillance footage held by the police and emphasized that there are too many rumors in the case, most of which are unfounded.
