Ethereum 2.0 is getting closer! The final version of the merge testnet Kiln has been completed, the next step is towards the merge with the existing testnets.
In December 2021, Ethereum launched the testnet Kintsugi to adapt to the post-merge PoS environment. On March 14, the Ethereum Foundation announced that after various tests, a robust set of protocol specifications has been established. Clients have already implemented these new standards, and following Kintsugi is the testnet Kiln, which merged (PoW execution layer with PoS Beacon Chain) on March 15 and is now fully operational under PoS. The Ethereum Foundation stated that Kiln is expected to be the final merge testnet before the upgrade of the existing public testnets.
