Deposit only, no withdrawals? Layer 2 solution Lina

The L2 network Linea mainnet developed by ConsenSys, the parent company of Metamask, officially launched on July 11th. As of now, the total value locked across chains exceeds $20 million, with over 670,000 transactions. However, there have been reports of funds being unable to exit Linea, leading to outcry within the community.

Funds Cross-Chain for a Week, Community Members Express Frustration

Some community members have reported that when using the official cross-chain bridge from Linea to the Ethereum mainnet, their funds have not arrived after waiting for six days with no communication. Coupled with the recent drop in the price of Ether over the past week, such losses have left community members furious, demanding accountability from the team.

Among the affected community members are some who participated in airdrops, either to claim the Linea Voyage NFT series introduced by Linea here, or to cross-chain their funds into Linea for potential future airdrops, only to find themselves unable to withdraw their funds now, resulting in unrecoverable losses.

Community Managers Strive to Calm Down Community, Official Announcement Made

Faced with a large number of questions and criticisms from the community, community managers responded under pressure, explaining that mass verifications have caused anchoring issues with Ethereum, leading to delays in withdrawals. The official team also made an announcement on Twitter here, stating that to ensure transaction accuracy and asset security, cross-chain assets will have delays of over 8 hours, with efforts to reduce the delay to under 4 hours.

Community managers also mentioned that for urgent withdrawal needs, users can consider using other cross-chain services such as Orbiter, which may provide faster processing than the official cross-chain bridge.
