The decentralized identity project Civic recently partnered with the Web3 car rental platform Rentality to provide car license verification services on the Base chain Coinbase.
Civic CEO Chris Hart stated that the collaboration with Rentality aims to streamline the complex process of car rentals. Traditional leasing processes involve various intermediaries such as car dealers and insurance companies, leading to increased rental prices and transaction fees. By allowing users to scan their driver's license and ID through selfie verification and using Civic ID for eligibility verification without disclosing personal information, users can complete the process smoothly. Car rental companies can also provide KYC (Know Your Customer) verification.
Rentality CEO Oleksandr Tatura mentioned that users can now rent cars using their own cryptocurrency wallets. The service has already started in Miami and plans to expand to other regions in the future.
