Studio's airdrop brushing doesn't pay off, DeepChain: The project party is the biggest winner of the game.

The blockchain media TechFlow reported on the dismal situation of "airdrop hunters" in the bear market, especially after the disappointment caused by the launch of two potential airdrop projects, Sei and CyberConnect, on Binance's Launchpool. Airdrop hunters community members expressed their frustration over the shattered airdrop expectations. Some in the community criticized domestic projects as only engaging in PUA, which implies deception or mental manipulation.

"Relying on Binance" or "Airdropping Money" - Which is Better?

In July this year, blockchain founder Wu commented that the cryptocurrency circle seems to have only two paths to success: the "Ethereum Foundation" and "Binance."

In the bear market, cases of simply distributing tokens through airdrops to early supporters to decentralize the chips are becoming scarce. Many projects considered as "high-probability airdrops" ultimately choose to cooperate with exchanges and exclusively or simultaneously airdrop tokens through Initial Exchange Offerings (IEOs). For example, in April this year, the Meta public chain Sui, which was originally thought to airdrop similarly to the concept public chain Aptos, ended up disappointing many airdrop hunters after confirming an IEO issuance.

On August 1st, the trading-focused public chains Sei Network SEI and CyberConnect CYBER both chose to debut on Binance's "New Coin Mining" Launchpool. TechFlow Deep Tide expressed that this still left many airdrop communities disappointed. Note: CyberConnect still implements airdrop activities concurrently

TechFlow stated that the community even came to the conclusion that "domestic projects will only engage in pickup artist behavior, lacking vision. Airdrop hunters should focus on foreign teams and highly funded projects." Note: PUA Pickup Artist, refers to behaviors that deceive using various psychological methods, later evolving into various forms of mental exploitation.

In Taiwan's community discussions, the rewards from recent fundraising missions of emerging projects on the Base chain are more lucrative compared to the high time-cost tasks of major airdrop projects. "There's one that raised 30 times its target, and each person can profit 300u."

Deep TideInterviews Operators:Is the Masturbation Studio on the Verge of Bankruptcy?

Deep Tide interviewed players who became rich from early successful airdropped coins such as dydx/ENS/ARB: using the pseudonym Jin Lian, he invited friends and family to establish a studio after getting rich from airdrops, but it had already closed down two months ago, with Sui being their final investment.

Jin Lian told Deep Tide that many airdrop studios used the rewards they received in the past to cover the costs of the next wave of activities, but due to blind expansion and lack of effectiveness, coupled with intense competition, the studios found it difficult to continue.

Jin Lian mentioned that a similar scenario is expected for Zksync, a project anticipated to have airdrops, where in an offline event, over a hundred people collectively held hundreds of thousands of addresses, which continue to increase.

Only Large Professional Studios Have a Chance to Succeed!

Jin Lian told Deep Tide that small and medium-sized airdrop studios no longer have a competitive advantage, and only conglomerate large studios have space in the future. He believes they should possess three key elements:

  • Secure and robust infrastructure: browser, Proxy Pool, KYC with master control
  • Loyal and obedient employees: must have programming capabilities
  • Need to have funds to sustain for two years

Being Airdropped could also be the Studio Itself

Jin Lian told Deep Tide that project teams now understand that most addresses are for airdrop purposes, and once they receive the airdrop, they will not use the product again. Consequently, airdrop missions are shifting towards high-cost low-return directions, and being airdropped could also be the studio itself.

Deep Tide: Project Parties are the Biggest Winners of the Masturbation Game

Deep Tide warns that there are many opportunities in emerging L2 public chains, but they come with risks. L2 sequencers determine the transaction priority and package transactions on the chain, with the gas fees paid including actual network gas and transaction fees, most of which flow to new protocol creators.

The past airdrop myth led many to participate in airdrops, but also made various L2 projects quite happy. For example, ZkSync Era used a centralized sequencer for operations and already made a profit from these airdrop hunters through transaction fees. Even the "cross-chain bridges" that assist studios in conducting airdrop activities on different chains also earn monthly revenues of over a million dollars through transaction fees.

Deep Tide believes that the open-source code OP Stack makes emerging L2 more accessible, foreseeing more L2 in the future and attracting more studios to take a gamble. Ultimately, startups that issue coins and earn transaction fees are the biggest winners in this game.
