MetaMask to launch mobile version, riding the wave of mobile DeFi trend and advancing Web3.0.

The craze for decentralized finance (DeFi) liquidity mining has brought a wave of strangely named tokens, and farmers are rushing to participate in the frenzy every day. MetaMask, one of the most widely used entry tools for DeFi, was previously only available as a browser extension plugin. However, on the evening of the 2nd, it finally announced the upcoming launch of its mobile version. More importantly, the concept of Web 3 is expected to mature further.

Quick Review: What is MetaMask?

MetaMask was founded in 2016. It is a browser extension that allows users to connect their cryptocurrency wallets to various platforms and websites on the Ethereum network.

Mobile Version Coming Soon

MetaMask announced in a Bloomberg interview that they will be launching a mobile version of MetaMask this week, available for download on the App Store and Google Play.

MetaMask's lead developer Dan Finlay stated, "There are already around 100,000 people testing the beta version." According to Bloomberg, MetaMask has around 400,000 users of its browser extension and over 1 million users can be found in the Chrome Web Store. With the upcoming ability to access various DeFi platforms without the need for a computer, MetaMask users are expected to become more active.

MetaMask: Driving the Progress of Web 3.0

In the Bloomberg interview, MetaMask's product manager Jacob Cantele mentioned that the current Web 2.0 lacks user control over data collection and privacy. Information such as login frequencies, locations, and search histories are collected and sold without consent.

Cantele believes this is due to the lack of monetary layer in Web 2.0, such as micro payment methods. MetaMask users will have the ability to control the form of data they leave behind, making data valuable and tradable. Wallet tools like MetaMask are expected to contribute to the advancement of Web 3.0, a more decentralized internet.
