TRON being used by terrorist organizations? Justin Sun: Decentralization is the top priority.

According to a report by Reuters, TRON, the blockchain founded by Justin Sun, is faster and cheaper than its larger competitor Bitcoin, and is widely used as a cryptocurrency transfer platform by groups designated as terrorist organizations in Israel, the United States, and other countries.

Terrorist Organizations Increasingly Favor Tron

The National Bureau for Counter Terror Financing (NBCTF) of Israel froze 143 Tron wallets between July 2021 and October 2023, believing these wallets are linked to "designated terrorist organizations" or used for "serious terrorist crimes." Nearly two-thirds (87 wallets) of these frozen wallets were done so this year, including 39 wallets linked to Hezbollah in Lebanon and 26 wallets belonging to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, an ally of Hamas.

Reuters interviewed Mriganka Pattnaik, CEO of blockchain analysis firm Merkle Science based in New York, who stated:

It used to be Bitcoin before, and now our data shows that these terrorist organizations are increasingly favoring Tron.

He also mentioned Tron's faster transaction times, lower fees, and stability. Merkle Science noted that law enforcement agencies in the United States, United Kingdom, and Singapore are clients of the company.

Justin Sun: Decentralization is Our Top Priority

Justin Sun stated on Twitter:

TRON is a decentralized protocol, similar to Bitcoin and Ethereum, with nodes running globally. Super representatives around the world are responsible for operating this protocol. While we are committed to combating terrorism financing by integrating various analysis projects and partners, our top priority remains to maintain decentralization, ensure the security of everyone's assets, and continue to provide instant, affordable, and reliable transactions. I am very grateful to everyone in our industry who has contributed to the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies.
