The Sushi community proposed to develop Sushichain (train) to achieve cross-chain asset interoperability and integrate decentralized liquidity.

The Sushiswap community released a new governance proposal today, proposing to create a sidechain network called Sushichain with cross-chain capabilities.

Developing Sushichain

According to the contents of a governance proposal, Sushiswap currently has protocols deployed across various blockchain ecosystems, with liquidity in various ecosystems as follows:

Ethereum: $3.4 billion https://analytics.sushi.com/

Polygon: $921 million https://analytics-polygon.sushi.com/

Fantom: $54 million https://analytics-ftm.sushi.com/

Other chains with lower liquidity include: BSC, HECO, xDai, Harmony, Avalanche, and OKExChain. Due to deployment on different blockchains, this liquidity is dispersed and unable to be integrated, further widening the gap.

Therefore, the community has proposed building a sidechain network called Sushichain that can connect various blockchains, consolidating the liquidity of Sushiswap across different blockchains. This network will also support cross-chain functionality for non-EVM native assets, bridging native assets of different blockchains such as BTC, DOT, SOL, ZEC, to achieve better trading depth, lower transaction fees, and more convenient all-in-one trading features.

However, the specific technical details of Sushichain were not disclosed in the proposal, only suggesting that the Tendermint Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus algorithm could be the best choice. Another community member, Sam Kazemian, founder of Frax Finance, commented that forking the code of Thorchain, a network that also focuses on cross-chain asset swapping, and replacing RUNE with SUSHI could be a good solution. Sam Kazemian also expressed that Frax Finance is willing to help build and adopt this network by offering FRAX token rewards on this cross-chain network.

Interestingly, products introduced by the Sushi community have always been themed around Japanese culture; however, the name Sushichain seems a bit too serious in comparison. Therefore, some community members have suggested naming the network Sushi train or Sushi belt, meaning "conveyor belt sushi."

The proposal is currently in the discussion stage and was not proposed by core Sushi personnel, so there could be many variables before it can be implemented.
