TON to Challenge Guinness World Record by End of October

According to the announcement by The Open Network Foundation (TON) on Twitter and the press release, this emerging public blockchain network is attempting to become the fastest and most scalable blockchain network in the world to receive Guinness World Record certification. The performance test is scheduled to take place at 11:00 PM Taiwan time on October 31, 2023.

The TON Foundation will collaborate with service providers such as Alibaba Cloud to set up 256 servers for verification nodes and launch a separate TON blockchain network for performance testing.

The press release claims that TON has maintained a good operational record since its inception, with no network interruptions and growth in on-chain data:

  • Verification nodes: 350

  • Verification nodes spread across 25 countries

  • User addresses: Increased from 170,000 to 3.5 million

TON Foundation: Looking Forward to Test Results

TON Foundation's Chief Development Officer, Anatoly Makosov, stated:

We look forward to witnessing TON's scalability on October 31. This is the first public large-scale performance test for TON, and like everyone else, we are excited about the results.

The TON Foundation has also set up a countdown timer on its official website, but there is no specific explanation for the upcoming "testing a separate TON blockchain network for performance tests" mentioned.

In fact, the Guinness World Records website also has multiple certifications related to blockchain, such as Bitcoin being certified as the oldest cryptocurrency, and Beeple's "EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 DAYS" as the most expensive limited NFT artwork.
