BitMEX Launches BitMEX Hong Kong as Transitional Service for VASP License Application
According to BitMEX's announcement, as BitMEX prepares to apply for a license under Hong Kong's Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) regime, BitMEX has introduced BitMEX Hong Kong to meet the transitional usage needs during this period and to prepare for Hong Kong's VASP regime.
BitMEX stated that the launch of BitMEX Hong Kong is driven by the evolving regulatory environment in Hong Kong, in support of the efforts by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong to establish appropriate digital asset standards.
Notes on BitMEX Hong Kong
After 5/29, users in Hong Kong will no longer be able to access BitMEX, and all unfilled orders, quotes, or conversion requests will be canceled at 1:00 PM Hong Kong time on that day. Users who wish to continue using BitMEX's services can only do so through the BitMEX Hong Kong mobile app.
Additionally, if Hong Kong users have remaining balances on BitMEX after 5/29, these balances will be automatically transferred to BitMEX Hong Kong.
BitMEX Hong Kong is currently in the testing phase and is expected to offer 11 trading pairs and support the purchase of over 30 currencies upon launch.
