FTX, Bahamas: Who is Telling the Truth?
During the initial suspension of withdrawals by FTX, the exchange tweeted that it had started assisting with withdrawals in compliance with the regulatory requirements of the country and the regulatory body.
The Securities Commission of The Bahamas responded at that time:
There was no implication, authorization, or suggestion that FTX Digital Markets Ltd. would prioritize withdrawals for Bahamian users. The Commission does not allow FTX, any investor, or user to receive special treatment.
Later, the Securities Commission of The Bahamas acknowledged that it had transferred all digital assets of FTX Digital Markets Ltd. to a digital wallet controlled by the Commission, which will now be responsible for custody of the digital assets and will charge custody fees, administrative fees, etc.
