Satoshi Nakamoto

Yesterday, after three years of legal battles, the Australian computer scientist Craig Wright was found to have published a legal statement on the homepage of his website, emphasizing that he is not the anonymous creator of Bitcoin known as "Satoshi Nakamoto." Additionally, he is feared to face prosecution by the UK's Crown Prosecution Service for the offense of perjury.

Australian Craig Wright Disclaimer: Not Satoshi Nakamoto

Australian Craig Wright, who has claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto since 2016, has unusually stated on his website that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto.

Disclaimer on Craig Wright's website

The disclaimer almost contradicts all of Craig Wright's statements over the past eight years, emphasizing that he cannot take legal action based on his false claims:

  • Firstly, Dr. Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper.

  • Secondly, Dr. Wright is not the copyright owner of the Bitcoin whitepaper.

  • Thirdly, Dr. Wright was not the person using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto between 2008 and 2011.

  • Fourthly, Dr. Wright is not the creator of the Bitcoin system.
  • Fifthly, Dr. Wright is not the author of the original version of the Bitcoin software.

As part of the final stage of the lawsuit between Craig Wright and the Cryptocurrency Open Patent Alliance (COPA), Judge James Mellor ordered that this disclaimer must be displayed on his website for a period of six months.

It is reported that the above disclaimer is consistent with Judge Mellor's closing remarks in the March case.

COPA Provides 50 Pieces of Evidence Exposing Fake Satoshi's Perjury

In recent years, Craig Wright has continued to sue multiple Bitcoin developers and the crypto community, claiming they infringed on his copyright, and has partially won several infringement lawsuits through a strong legal team.

In 2021, COPA, founded by Jack Dorsey's payment institution Square, sued Craig Wright to prevent him from repeatedly attacking the crypto community through legal actions to earn legal fees.

As the case progressed, COPA presented over 50 pieces of evidence refuting Craig Wright's position, and through the examination by multiple experts and on-chain analysts, it was proven that he provided a series of forged documents and tampered data.

Judge Mellor agreed with COPA's argument, ruling that Craig Wright is not the creator of Bitcoin:

The creator of a high-tech system like Bitcoin would not make the careless mistakes and falsifications that Wright has been found to have made.

Craig Wright Likely to be Prosecuted by UK Authorities for Perjury

Furthermore, Mellor stated in a written judgment yesterday that he has referred Craig Wright's evidence forgery behavior to the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for investigation:

Wright repeatedly lied during the lawsuit with COPA and attempted to make false statements by massively forging documents, constituting a "serious abuse" of the legal systems in the UK, Norway, and the US.

He added, "CPS can consider bringing charges of perjury."

Additionally, a court document earlier this month indicated that the High Court of England issued a worldwide freezing order (WFO) against Craig Wright to recover the previous litigation costs, up to $200,000, involving a lawsuit with "Bitcoin OG and podcast host Peter McCormack."

At the time, McCormack claimed on his show that Wright was a fraud and not Satoshi Nakamoto, leading to a lawsuit for defamation.
