The smartphone developer HTC announced on Tuesday that it plans to release a special edition of its blockchain smartphone series EXODUS 1 in collaboration with Binance, supporting the applications of decentralized exchange Binance Chain and BNB token.

According to a report, the EXODUS 1 Binance version will integrate Binance Chain with HTC's proprietary Zion Vault wallet application, enabling users to access Binance DEX directly on their mobile phones.

Phil Chen, Chief Decentralized Officer of HTC's decentralized applications division, stated that Binance's "borderless vision" aligns with the goals of EXODUS. He mentioned:

We are collaborating with the world's largest and most liquid cryptocurrency exchange, allowing users to custody their own keys and run a full Bitcoin node, changing the way users interact with Binance DEX.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao also emphasized that smartphones are the most seamless devices for hardware wallets, especially those that users will constantly use. Cryptocurrencies will transform all smartphones into POS terminals and payment devices, thereby eliminating most intermediaries.

Zhao expressed his excitement about the widespread integration of smartphones and cryptocurrencies:

Its impact is profound. The most innovative smartphone manufacturers are adopting encryption technology. We are excited to support and collaborate with HTC EXODUS to ensure its users can access Binance Chain and DEX, helping users access cryptocurrencies and exchanges anywhere.

HTC first announced its plan to launch a cryptocurrency-supporting smartphone when it released EXODUS 1 in May last year. The phone was initially available for purchase only with cryptocurrencies in the second half of 2018, and earlier this year, it opened up for purchases with fiat currencies.

Among its features, EXODUS has a Secure Enclave function that serves as a mobile hardware wallet, providing a secure environment for users' private keys without being vulnerable to hacking or other forms of compromise.

This year, HTC followed up with the release of 1s after EXODUS 1, a more affordable version that supports memory card expansion and running a full Bitcoin node.

The latest Binance version is priced at $599, cheaper than the previous version, and currently can only be purchased with cryptocurrencies on the HTC website. Early purchasers may also receive messages about BNB airdrops to their phones.
