Epic Games gains another customer! Nike may bring Air Max sneakers into Fortnite!

In a promotional video released on June 17th, Nike revealed a collaboration with the popular game Fortnite under Epic Games. Details about the collaboration have not been disclosed yet, but it is speculated that a new game based on user-generated content from the game, incorporating NFT elements, may be introduced.

Nike Collaborates with Game Developers, .SWOOSH Making Waves

Nike's strong interest in Web3 is seen as a way to bring NFTs to the masses, and its Web3 ecosystem platform, .SWOOSH, may be leading traditional game developers to incorporate Web3 elements into their games.

In the early hours of June 17, sportswear giant Nike hinted through a brief teaser that it may soon introduce NFTs related to its Air Max series sneakers in Fortnite, a game with 243 million monthly active players owned by Epic Games. This presents a significant opportunity for traditional gamers to use Web3 technology.

Specific details about the "Sneakerhunt" event mentioned in the video will be announced today.

Notably, the video ends with the logos of Nike's Web3 ecosystem platform, ".SWOOSH," and Epic Games' game development engine, "Unreal Engine," rather than Epic Games' logo, leading to speculation that Nike's involvement may go beyond simply adding NFTs of its shoes to games.

Earlier on June 2, Nike announced a collaboration with EA Sports to integrate .SWOOSH's NFT creations into several of its games, potentially allowing characters to have personalized avatars and wearable accessories.

NFT Players Speculate: Is Nike Transforming into a Game Developer?

NFT players speculate that Nike may already be using Fortnite Creative 2.0 to develop a game with NFT content. Two years ago, Nike created a game on Roblox, but it did not involve NFTs at that time.

Fornite Creative 2.0 is a new system that allows players to create their own virtual islands and game maps using built-in elements.

This concept of enhancing personal experiences and increasing game engagement aligns with the current trend of major brands towards Web3: leveraging the technology to get closer to consumers and provide more customized immersive experiences.

Earlier, Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, partnered with the top international fashion brand LVMH. Using their designed Unreal Engine and other professional game development technologies, they will offer LVMH consumers unique digital technology experiences like 360-degree virtual fitting rooms, fashion shows, and exclusive digital experiences.
