According to a report from the foreign media, a new study by the cryptocurrency lending company BlockFi shows that cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Ethereum will become Americans' preferred gifts. In October, BlockFi conducted the "Happy HODLdays" survey among over 1,250 people, revealing that nearly one in ten Americans will give cryptocurrencies as holiday gifts to their loved ones, with Bitcoin being the most popular crypto gift chosen by 75% of the respondents, followed by Dogecoin and Ethereum. On the other hand, the acceptance of NFTs is not as high, with only 2% of respondents interested in receiving this type of gift. Furthermore, the survey indicates that cryptocurrencies have become a popular topic at family gatherings, with one-third of respondents preferring to discuss digital assets rather than politics during the holidays. While the Baby Boomer generation tends to discuss politics, Generation Z and Millennials engage in family conversations about cryptocurrencies. However, less than a quarter of the respondents know how to give cryptocurrencies as gifts. Therefore, BlockFi's co-founder and COO, Flori Marquez, believes that while cryptocurrencies are becoming a hot topic, further education is needed to benefit more people. BlockFi also asked respondents about their New Year's plans. One-third of Millennials plan to purchase cryptocurrencies in 2022, while this investment intention drops to 25% among the older generation. Approximately 15% of respondents stated they plan to buy NFTs in 2022; the Generation Z, born after 1997, prefers buying Dogecoin over Ethereum. Meanwhile, the cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com conducted a similar survey in Australia, where a quarter of Australian users intend to purchase cryptocurrencies as gifts for their loved ones this Christmas.
