The Cybercab, which has no steering wheel or brakes, operates with automated driverless technology. Priced at under $30,000, Elon Musk optimistically predicts that mass production could begin by 2027, highlighting its advantages:

  • 10 times safer than human driving
  • Acts as a mobile mini lounge, turning commute time into a golden personal time
  • Costs approximately $0.2 per mile, with taxes and other fees totaling around $0.3 to $0.4 per mile, compared to the average bus cost of $1 per mile as noted by Musk
  • Capable of automatic charging and cleaning
  • Can be put to work for passive income when not in use

Robovan, Seating 20 People

Tesla also unveiled the Robovan for the first time, a vehicle that can accommodate 20 passengers and includes cargo transport capabilities, making it ideal for airport operations, as praised by netizens.

Cybercab Release Schedule

Musk also announced Tesla's ambitious roadmap, with plans to introduce unsupervised FSD autonomous driving capabilities in Texas and California next year, aiming for full driverless capabilities for Model 3 and Model Y by 2026, and Musk optimistically expects the Cybercab to be launched and mass-produced by 2027.

Humanoid Robot Optimus Steals the Show

Musk also shared the latest developments of Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus, with many Optimus units present at the event showcasing dance moves and serving drinks as waiters, creating a party-like atmosphere throughout the entire presentation.
