LINE Pay, the digital wallet and financial technology service under LINE, announced on the 8th that from March 16 to December 26, 2022, during the trial operation period, LINE users in Japan can use the LINE's cryptocurrency asset "LINK" to make purchases at selected online stores.

During the trial operation period, when users check out at selected online stores using LINE Pay, they can choose to pay with LINK, similar to LINE POINTS, and without any transaction fees. Through the integration of LINE Pay and LINK, in addition to expanding payment options and enhancing convenience, it also promotes the daily use of LINK.

LINK is based on LINE's blockchain network, LINE Blockchain, and has been continuously expanding its application since its issuance. For example, in Japan, the cryptocurrency exchange operated by LVC, LINE BITMAX, now allows users to pay transaction fees with LINK when trading cryptocurrency, and the fees can be deducted from LINE Pay accounts or bank accounts.

LINE's global cryptocurrency and blockchain business subsidiary, LINE Tech Plus, has been actively promoting the adoption of LINK to accelerate the goal of a cashless society. This includes marketing campaigns on LINE Pay and conducting original research.

In the future, LINE Pay also plans to open up options for payment with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, while actively building partnerships in the blockchain business. With the aim of making LINK a "service for everyone," Designed For Everyone, LINE will continue to expand its daily uses and promote the mainstream adoption of cryptocurrency.
