Introduction to Immutable Passport
The blockchain gaming public chain Immutable has announced the launch of the Passport feature, which aims to improve the user experience of existing blockchain games. It primarily consists of two functions:
Universal Gaming Identity
Passport makes cross-game operations simple. It provides a universal personal data format, allowing players in the future to easily carry their identities, achievements, and digital assets across different games.
Simplified Web3 Registration Process
On the other hand, Passport simplifies the registration and login process for Web3 gamers. If a game adopts the Passport SDK as a login option, it can eliminate the complex registration process for users, including downloading wallets, managing mnemonic phrases, and topping up gas fees.
Passport can provide options like mailbox registration in Web2 or third-party login methods such as Google or Apple ID. By offering alternatives to wallet login, it significantly simplifies the entry barriers for Web3 applications, enhancing the gaming experience and attracting audiences beyond the crypto community.
Gods Unchained has adopted the Passport feature
At present, Passport has been adopted in several games and applications within the ecosystem, including Gods Unchained, TokenTrove, Blocklete Golf, AtomicHub, among others.
User Experience Is a Key Consideration for All Web3 Products
It's not just games; there is significant room for improvement in the user experience of all Web3 services and products. Aside from login and personal data aggregation, aspects such as mobile operation experience, blockchain finality confirmation speed, and protocol usage guidance still face challenges.
The login registration process is the first step in improving user experience and has always been a focal point for development teams. Email login functionality is not unique to or ahead of Immutable; the Taiwanese wallet team Blocto has also introduced similar services. Account abstraction (AA) development also prioritizes the improvement of the login process, as seen in the Ethereum roadmap. The day when email registration and usage are widely adopted, similar to Uniswap, is foreseeable.
