FTX and FTX.US integrate infrastructure protocol Bonfida, allowing users to deposit and withdraw funds using ".sol domain names"

Following FTX and FTX.US providing the ukraine.sol domain to Ukraine for easier donations, infrastructure protocol Bonfida announced the integration of its domain service with FTX. Users will be able to deposit and withdraw funds using .sol domain addresses in the future, making it a more intuitive experience for users compared to the long character addresses.

The President of FTX.US, Brett Harrison, recently announced that FTX and FTX.US will start supporting .sol domain names, and have activated ukraine.sol as a donation address to support Ukraine.

The Solana Name Service (SNS) domain service introduced by the infrastructure protocol Bonfida announced on 3/1 that it has integrated with FTX, pointing out that long, unreadable wallet addresses actually cause confusion and adoption barriers, and that .sol domain names will help reduce such situations.

Withdrawing from FTX using .sol domain names:

  1. Register a .sol domain name.
  2. The wallet address will be automatically bound when applying for the domain name.
  3. When withdrawing from FTX, enter the .sol domain name instead of the wallet address, as shown in the figure below.
Example of withdrawing with a domain name

Creating a subdomain for depositing into FTX:

1. Since the exchange deposit address is a unified hot wallet, a subdomain needs to be created separately and bound to the deposit address provided by FTX to users.

2. Bind the deposit address with the subdomain.

If FTX changes a user's SOL address, the user will need to rebind it with the subdomain.

According to official statistics from Bonfida, in January of this year, SNS added 147,912 new domain names, and in February, an additional 158,598 new domain names, showing an increase in user adoption rates. However, due to the sharp drop in SOL's coin price, the actual USD value of many domain names has also significantly decreased.
