OpenAI collaborates with Time magazine to provide more accurate and trustworthy content for AI models

The developer of ChatGPT, OpenAI, announced a multi-year content agreement and strategic partnership with TIME magazine, bringing its trusted news reporting into OpenAI's products, including ChatGPT, to provide more accurate and reliable content for training AI models.

OpenAI Previously Sued by Multiple Media Outlets

According to previous reports, The New York Times filed a lawsuit against Microsoft and the developers of ChatGPT, OpenAI, at the end of last year, accusing both companies of copyright infringement for using the newspaper's content without authorization to train their AI models, causing damage to its reputation, operations, and profitability.

Eight American newspaper publishers also sued OpenAI in April for the same reason. At the time, OpenAI stated in a declaration that they take great care in their product and design processes to support news organizations. They mentioned actively engaging in constructive partnerships and dialogues with many news organizations worldwide to explore opportunities, discuss any issues, and provide solutions.

OpenAI Announces Collaboration with Times

Through this partnership, OpenAI will gain access to current and historical content from the extensive archives of TIME magazine spanning the past 101 years to enhance its products and displays in response to user inquiries, providing citations and links back to their original website sources. This new partnership further advances TIME magazine's commitment to expanding channels for global access to accurate and credible information.

This collaboration also allows TIME to leverage OpenAI's technology to develop new products for its audience, providing valuable feedback and sharing practical applications to improve and enhance news delivery in ChatGPT and other OpenAI products, shaping the future of news experiences.

In May, OpenAI also announced a collaboration with Reddit to enrich ChatGPT by introducing timely and relevant data from Reddit.
