Twitter has announced that the ability to receive tips in Bitcoin is now available on its iOS app, with Android soon to follow, although there is no timeframe for the web version of Twitter. This provides Twitter users with a large following another way to monetize their presence.

Third-party payment options that Twitter users can enable include Cash App, Patreon, Venmo, Chipper, Bandcamp, Razorpay, GoFundMe, PicPay, and Wealthsimple Cash, as well as the option to link a crypto wallet like Strike directly to their Twitter profile and individual tweets to receive Bitcoin.

Esther Crawford, who works in Twitter's product department, expressed the hope that everyone on Twitter can earn rewards, encouraging more participation and addressing cross-border payment issues. Importantly, these tips are fee-free on Twitter.

In addition, Twitter plans to introduce an NFT verification feature, allowing users to verify and showcase their NFT collections on Twitter, even using them as profile pictures. This move is expected to be a key step in the flourishing of NFT digital art, although it is still in the development stage with no specific timeline.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has been a long-time supporter of the Lightning Network, having invested $2.5 million in Lightning Labs in 2018, continuously working towards integrating Lightning payments. The Lightning Network is a "second layer" technology that allows users to make small Bitcoin transactions.
