On the evening of September 4th, the well-known online gaming platform Stake was disclosed by multiple blockchain security organizations for multiple unauthorized fund transfers on various blockchains. Stake confirmed the occurrence of unauthorized transactions, but announced that the platform had resumed normal operations after about 4 hours. No further statements were issued regarding the incident.

Gaming Platform Stake Hacked for Millions in Cryptocurrency

Cybersecurity firm Cyvers Alerts first reported at 21:31 Taiwan time that a suspicious address 0x31306 received $16 million in ETH, USDC, USDT, and DAI from Stake, which were later exchanged for ETH.

In addition to $25.6 million outflow on BNB Chain and Polygon chain, cybersecurity firm Beosin Alert estimated a total of approximately $41.35 million being hacked.

Stake Official Stays Silent

Stake confirmed in a post at 1:00 AM on September 5th that the platform's hot wallet had unauthorized transactions and is currently under investigation. Once the wallet is deemed secure, operations will resume.

They also emphasized that wallets for other chains such as BTC, LTC, XRP, EOS, TRX are functioning normally, and user funds are unaffected.

Stake later announced at 5:00 AM that all services have been restored, and they will process user deposits and withdrawals promptly, but remained silent on the details of the attack.
