Bloomberg reported that New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed one of the strictest cryptocurrency mining regulation laws in the United States on Tuesday. The law requires cryptocurrency mining companies that use fossil fuels and the proof-of-work method to pause issuing new permits for two years. The bill was approved by the state Senate in June, but Hochul waited until now to sign it, following intense lobbying from the crypto industry.
