Democratic cryptocurrency-friendly Eric Adams elected as Mayor of New York City, is his call to "become a Bitcoin hub" for real?

There seems to be another positive development in the regulation and adoption of cryptocurrencies. Democratic mayoral candidate Eric Adams, who previously boasted about turning New York into a Bitcoin hub, has won the mayoral election in New York City, becoming the second African-American mayor in the city's history.

Crypto-Friendly

In the New York City mayoral election, Eric Adams, the former police chief of New York and Democratic candidate, who was almost certain to win, received 70% of the votes. He has already announced his victory on Twitter.

Previously, Eric Adams stated at a rally in June that:

I guarantee you that a year from now... you're going to see a different city. We're going to be the center of life sciences, the center of cybersecurity, the center of self-driving cars, drones, and Bitcoin.

Pursuing Disruptive Technologies

When it comes to promoting cryptocurrencies, the best candidate may be Andrew Yang, a Taiwanese-American entrepreneur who announced his candidacy for the 2021 New York City mayoral election and is familiar with blockchain technology, rather than Eric Adams who merely mentioned the name "Bitcoin."

However, Eric Adams is pursuing various disruptive technology enterprises, as he expressed in his insights at the rally in June.

The good news is that his political platform in 2015 is similar to today's, when he was the district president of Brooklyn. In a speech, he stated:

I want Bitcoin. I want Airbnb. I want marijuana dispensaries. I want all the disruptive businesses to come into my district.

The term of office for the mayor of New York City is four years and can be re-elected for up to two terms, totaling eight years. For Eric Adams, the most crucial task may be responding to and recovering from the pandemic, while the positive developments regarding Bitcoin will have to be observed with patience.
