Nayib Bukele tweeted on Monday night that due to ongoing issues with the official Bitcoin wallet Chivo, new account registrations are currently suspended, and mobile app downloads have been halted. The Chivo team expects to resume registrations and downloads within a few days.

He stated, "95% of the technical errors in the Chivo wallet have been fixed. It will be running at 100% speed in the next few days. I notice that the 200 Bitcoin ATMs in El Salvador are currently working well, and there are 50 ATMs in the United States supporting Chivo."

Facing continued issues with the Bitcoin wallet, Nayib Bukele acknowledged that the challenges set were too high. "We made mistakes, but we are correcting them, and thousands of Salvadorans can now use their Chivo without any problems."

The official Bitcoin wallet Chivo in El Salvador, which is a collaboration with the Mexican cryptocurrency exchange Bitso, is experiencing various issues. Santiago Alvarado, Bitso's Director of Cross-Border Payments, declined to comment on the functionality of the Chivo wallet.
