SBF Trial Day One: Confirms Jury of Fifty, Many Unfamiliar with Cryptocurrency
In the downtown Manhattan district court in New York, USA, a trial involving SBF is currently underway with a large number of reporters present. Fifty Jurors, Many Unfamiliar with Cryptocurrency
The judge conducted a lengthy investigation on nearly 50 jurors, who varied in age and profession. Among them were elderly individuals with diabetes, an investment banker whose company had invested in FTX, military personnel, educators, insurance agents, and more. Many of them had no knowledge of cryptocurrency, while some had experienced losses from investing in cryptocurrency. There was even a person whose friend committed suicide due to a Ponzi scheme.
The trial did not involve SBF on the first day but focused on selecting the jurors. The judge informed the jury that the defendant in this case is SBF, accused of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit commodity fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.
