The Ukrainian government, led by Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, has announced the decision to "cancel airdrop tokens for donors" and instead issue NFTs, disappointing many hopeful individuals. However, Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, commented, "This is a wise decision."

Starting from Airdrop Announcement, Donation Amounts Surge

The Ukrainian government has introduced various blockchain donation channels since announcing cryptocurrency addresses. From initial Bitcoin and Ethereum donations to later pledges like Polkadot DOT founder Gavin Wood fulfilling a promise to donate five million USD and Solana SOL, even Uniswap has created a dedicated interface to assist donations in various tokens.

On March 2nd, the Ukrainian government first announced plans to airdrop contributors, with a snapshot scheduled for 12:00 PM GMT+8 on March 3rd, leading to a substantial increase in donation amounts.

Excluded from Airdrop List, TRON Founder Sun Yuchen Expresses Displeasure

Following the airdrop news, TRON founder Sun Yuchen expressed dissatisfaction as the TRON community had already supported Ukraine with over 1.3 million USD but was excluded from the airdrop list, deeming it unfair to donors.

In fact, the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister had shared a TRON address for USDT TRC-20, while only the USDT ERC-20 Ethereum address was posted on Ukraine's official Twitter.

Ukraine Swiftly Cancels Airdrop, Shifts Focus to NFTs

Less than a day later, on the evening of March 3rd, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov promptly reversed the decision to cancel the airdrop, stating:

"After careful consideration, we have decided to cancel the airdrop. More and more people are willing to help Ukraine fight back. We will announce NFTs to support the Ukrainian army. We have no plans to issue any fungible tokens."

Sun Yuchen, who was disgruntled by the absence of the airdrop, remarked, "This is a wise decision."
