This video uploaded by Nayib Bukele clearly shows the state-owned geothermal power company LaGeo providing power to mining machines. In the video, workers are seen connecting mining equipment to a large black container labeled "Government of El Salvador."
In June, after the Salvadoran Congress approved a bill making Bitcoin a legal tender, Nayib Bukele stated that he had instructed LaGeo to allow Bitcoin miners to utilize volcanic geothermal resources.
He wrote at the time: "I just instructed @LaGeoSV (our state-owned geothermal electric company) to put up a plan to offer facilities for Bitcoin mining with very cheap, 100% clean, 100% renewable, zero-emission energy from our volcanoes."
