According to a report, prominent Bitcoin influencer Anthony Pompliano, also known as Pomp, announced that his YouTube channel was deleted for violating community guidelines. Pompliano stated that he was discussing Bitcoin at the time and did not violate any community guidelines. Shortly after, YouTube restored the channel.

Anthony Pompliano, co-founder of the cryptocurrency hedge fund Morgan Creek Digital and host of The Pomp Podcast, has a channel with 251,000 subscribers.

On the 11th, Pompliano tweeted that he received a notification from YouTube accusing him of promoting "illegal activities" during a recent live interview with S2F model creator PlanB:

"They claimed we were 'encouraging illegal activities' and would not be allowed to create new YouTube channels in the future. But it doesn't matter. Bitcoin is inevitable."

Subsequently, Pompliano received a second letter from YouTube stating that "the channel will be deleted within a few seconds."

In the past, YouTube has flagged cryptocurrency-related videos on the platform as "harmful content" through manual review. Pompliano, who was once considered to be broadcasting "harmful content," was able to quickly restore his account, possibly due to his 1.1 million Twitter followers, drawing attention from the YouTube team. Other crypto content creators who have had their channels deleted are not as fortunate; it often takes several days for their channels to be reinstated.

The report highlights YouTube's arbitrary decisions to delete or suspend accounts, underscoring the predicament and risks of centralized social media platforms.

In the past, YouTube has mistakenly deleted or temporarily banned several key opinion leaders in the crypto community. Not only Bitcoin-related accounts have been treated this way. YouTube stated that since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in February 2020, over a million videos "related to dangerous coronavirus information" have been removed, as "everyone should have access to the best available information during a global pandemic to ensure the safety of themselves and their families. However, to identify clear misinformation, you need to provide clear facts. For COVID information, we rely on experts from health organizations such as the Health Department and WHO for scientifically sound information."
