Bitcoin 2021 Conference: How did Twitter CEO respond to accusations of being a scammer and promoting censorship?

Jack Dorsey, who rarely speaks out, discussed his vision for Bitcoin at the 2021 conference, stating that if Bitcoin needs more help, he would leave Square or Twitter. During the interview, there were instances of audience members calling him a fraud, but Dorsey calmly responded, believing that Twitter could eventually achieve a decentralization similar to Bitcoin.

Jack Dorsey's Bitcoin Commitment

Jack Dorsey, who rarely speaks out, discussed many visions for Bitcoin at the Bitcoin 2021 Conference. He claimed:

Bitcoin changes everything. If I were not at Square or Twitter, I would be working on Bitcoin. I think there is nothing more important in my lifetime to work on and I think both companies can play a role in this.

No Need for Today's Financial Institutions

Jack Dorsey also stated:

There is nothing else that is more beneficial to the world at large. We do not need today's financial institutions. Bitcoin is a thriving, healthy, community-owned and driven financial institution that is always on the right path over time. It is so rare, unique, and we will build any infrastructure we can.

Jack Dorsey emphasized that Square's promotion of encryption is for this reason. This is why Square does not adopt any other cryptocurrencies, as they are very focused on making Bitcoin the native currency of the Internet.

Doubters Uncover Twitter's Scars of Censorship

When Jack Dorsey was interviewed on stage, there were audience members constantly heckling, calling him a fraud, including the prominent right-wing figure Laura Loomer, who called Jack Dorsey the "King of Censorship":

How can you say Bitcoin is the currency of the world when you are the King of Censorship? Bitcoin is decentralized, and when you are censoring others on Twitter, you are not qualified to talk about these things.

This is mainly because Twitter permanently suspended Donald Trump's Twitter account on January 9th this year, causing widespread debate. Dorsey stated that he is still working on this and believes that social media can also achieve decentralization similar to Bitcoin. He replied:

I understand that many people oppose Twitter's censorship policies, and I also understand that the incentives needed for businesses and community platforms are different. Therefore, my lifelong goal is to eliminate the corporate nature of Twitter as much as possible and integrate with the open-source community in a better way. Obviously, Bitcoin has shown me that this solution is Square.

He also mentioned that Twitter's previously announced "Blue Sky Project" was inspired by Bitcoin and emphasized that the policy issues currently seen on Twitter will not appear in the Blue Sky Project. At the same time, he laid down the gauntlet:

Again, I know you critics won't believe me, you will continue to say I am a fraud, and I will prove it to you. We can talk about it again then.
