Nearly quadrupled! Hacker extraordinaire Snowden flaunts his March tweet predicting the perfect bottom-buying opportunity.

Edward Snowden, the infamous whistleblower, recently (12/7) took to Twitter to boast about his earlier tweet from March 13th this year when Bitcoin dropped to $5,000. He believed that the drop in Bitcoin was unjustified, and even though he had never bought Bitcoin before, he was tempted to enter the market at that time.

The Continuous Decline of US Dollar Purchasing Power

Edward Snowden, with over 4 million Twitter followers, first poked fun at the long-standing issue of inflation. He joked:

I thought I understood how tough those days were, but then my wife told me that there's no more McChicken on the $1 menu.

It is understood that Snowden was referring to the $1 menu offered by McDonald's, where the McChicken has been removed from the menu as it has increased in price to $1.29 due to inflation. He wanted to emphasize the fact that the purchasing power of the US dollar is decreasing.

He further pointed out that the exchange rate of the US dollar to Bitcoin has dropped by 99.93% since 2013.

Market Rebound on 3/12

Looking back on March 12th this year, the US stock market triggered circuit breakers multiple times, and the cryptocurrency market value evaporated over $80 billion in a single day, returning to levels seen in February last year, plunging the market into extreme panic.

At that time, Snowden posted that the Bitcoin drop was accompanied by too much panic but dropped for no reason.

As Bitcoin surpassed $19,000 and even broke historical highs, Snowden revisited this "bottom-fishing tweet" and emphasized that Bitcoin was only around $5,000 at the time.

Application for Russian Citizenship

According to previous reports, Snowden, who exposed the US mass internet surveillance program "PRISM" in 2013, faced charges of violating the Espionage Act and has been in exile overseas for many years. Although current US President Trump considered pardoning him, Snowden applied for Russian citizenship in October and obtained permanent residency in Russia.

However, Snowden still hopes to retain his US citizenship and return home one day, provided that the federal government grants him a pardon or promises a fair trial.
