Heroic Welcome! CZ Still Highly Influential
At the speech area of the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) will not take the stage for another half hour, but the auditorium is already packed with people. As CZ makes his way towards the auditorium from outside, cheers can be heard intermittently from the crowd, causing even the speakers on stage to pause and discuss the return of this superstar.
CZ: Life in Prison Wasn't Great, Harsh Sentence
Changpeng Zhao mentioned that his life in prison wasn't great, but the downtime helped him understand the importance of human connections. He said he wouldn't dwell on whether the sentence was fair or not, but it was indeed a harsh one; as no one had previously been imprisoned for the same charges.
Being the Poorest in Prison, Asked about Alpha
Changpeng Zhao joked that he made friends in prison, but lost touch after coming out; indeed, a few people asked him about buying certain coins, but he had no connection to external information, not knowing what to say. "Only had 15 minutes to use a computer, but the computer didn't have copy-paste functionality."
He felt that the people in prison were actually quite nice, and when he first entered, the money in the accounts of other inmates was more than his, making him the poorest.
Still a Major Shareholder of Binance, focusing on Investment and Education Moving Forward
Changpeng Zhao stated that he is still a major shareholder of Binance but cannot give orders or advice. "I also believe a CEO shouldn't serve for more than 10 years. I now have more time to study AI and delve into DeFi, which I didn't have time to look into before."
He mentioned focusing on education, investing in cryptocurrency, AI, and biotech.
"If I had Known, I Would Have Held On for Two More Months"
During the U.S. presidential election, both candidates began showing crypto-friendly stances. Changpeng Zhao noted that overall global regulations are progressing, but larger countries are moving slower. "When I was in prison, I started seeing Trump supporting cryptocurrencies and both parties showing support. I thought, should I have held on for two more months?"
Educational Project Giggle Academy, but No Token Issuance Planned
Changpeng Zhao mentioned that he currently spends half of his time on Giggle Academy, a digital way to promote education. The host asked if this project would involve cryptocurrency. He stated that for Giggle Academy, there is no need to issue new tokens as there are already too many cryptocurrencies in the world. In the short term, Giggle Academy will not integrate with token economics, but in the long term, they do hope to integrate with Web3.
Changpeng Zhao emphasized the potential of achieving inclusive education through AI, games, and various technologies.
Top Twitter Influencer CZ Returns
In fact, Changpeng Zhao had often emphasized his minimal involvement in operations even before the U.S. lawsuit. Therefore, the restriction preventing him from participating in operations due to the U.S. lawsuit had little impact on Binance; during his time in prison, Binance operated normally under the leadership of co-founder He Yi and CEO Richard Teng.
Changpeng Zhao CZ had a significant influence on Twitter in the past, often interacting with current events and celebrities. His return to online discourse and the potential ripple effect are what to watch for in the future.
