In yet another case related to the Paris Ethereum Community Conference, following a speaker's announcement on social media, former Ethereum core developer Afri Schoeden has also declared himself as having tested positive for the virus.

Earlier reports indicated that Zhen Yu Yong, co-founder of a Singaporean startup, shared on Twitter that he might have contracted COVID-19 after attending the Ethereum Community Conference from March 3rd to March 5th.

On March 13th, German national and former Ethereum core developer Afri Schoeden also took to Twitter to announce his diagnosis.

"I've tested positive for COVID-19. Given my symptoms and timeline, it's likely I got infected at the Ethereum Community Conference or during the conference or post-conference events. If you develop flu-like symptoms after the Ethereum Community Conference, please get tested and stay at home."

Schoeden mentioned that he is currently under home quarantine and will be allowed to leave only after testing negative twice. What's even more alarming is that after reporting his contacts post March 6th to the authorities, two individuals have already tested positive, surprising even him with the speed of transmission.

Not only Afri Schoeden, but also Daniel Luca, a smart contract security auditor who attended the Ethereum Community Conference, expressed that he likely got infected during the conference; however, his symptoms have since alleviated.

COVID-19 is wreaking havoc in Germany, with nearly two thousand confirmed cases as of the deadline. Recently, German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated that she expects about 60% to 70% of Germans to contract the virus, estimating this to be over 50 million people. The epidemic has not only affected the cryptocurrency market but also developers.

More Confirmed Participants

According to a self-registered list, 17 individuals who attended EthCC that day have been confirmed positive. While Afri Schoeden has declared recovery, many others are still awaiting test results. The data suggests that those who attended the after-party had the highest rate of infection.

Currently, French Prime Minister Macron has announced a 15-day nationwide lockdown starting from noon on the 17th, with the closure of French borders, mandating all citizens to stay at home. He stated, "We are at war."
