Berkshire Hathaway shareholders discussed cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin at the annual meeting, Vice Chairman Munger: The whole development is disgusting.

Warren Buffett's investment company Berkshire Hathaway held its annual shareholders meeting last weekend. The company's vice chairman, Charlie Munger, admitted during the meeting that he dislikes seeing the success of Bitcoin. Buffett, on the other hand, avoided questions related to Bitcoin and stated, "I don't want to make thousands of Bitcoin holders feel bad."

At the annual Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting held over the weekend, Chairman Warren Buffett and Vice Chairman Charlie Munger were asked whether they still believe that Bitcoin is "worthless artificial gold." Buffett took the lead by stating that he prefers not to comment directly on cryptocurrencies because he doesn't want to upset the thousands of Bitcoin holders.

"There could be hundreds of thousands of people watching who own Bitcoin, and it may just be the two of us who are bearish. We could choose to comment and have 400,000 people mad at us or unhappy, but only the two of us happy. That's a dumb equation."

Charlie Munger: The Whole Development Makes Me Sick

However, Vice Chairman Charlie Munger was not as subtle as Buffett. The 97-year-old Wall Street veteran expressed:

"I hate the success of Bitcoin, I despise this currency that benefits kidnappers and extortionists."

He added that he also dislikes giving billions of dollars to someone "inventing a new financial product out of thin air," and even went on to say that the entire development of the cryptocurrency market makes him nauseous:

"The whole damn development is disgusting and contrary to the interests of civilization, I'll let others do the rest of the criticisms."

After Munger expressed his views on Bitcoin, Buffett immediately chimed in, saying: I totally agree with that.
