According to a report from The Block, Mayor Francis Suarez of Miami, USA, stated that despite the ongoing market volatility, he continues to receive his paycheck in Bitcoin.
Over a year ago, Suarez first announced that he would become the first US politician to accept his official salary in Bitcoin, and since that announcement, Bitcoin has dropped by about 76%.
Francis Suarez mentioned that his mayoral salary is not his only source of income, as he also works as a lawyer and at a private equity firm.
Francis Suarez stated that Miami has zero exposure to FTX, and its economy is diversified enough to withstand any downturn in a single industry.
