Web3 giants form the Metaverse Alliance "OMA3"! Establishing unified standards, asset cross-platform transfer

A series of blockchain-based metaverse and Web3 platforms have recently established the Open Metaverse Alliance of Web3 (OMA3). Members include industry giants such as Animoca Brands, The Sandbox, Decentraland, among others. The goal is to enable the metaverse to operate under a unified system, allowing users to freely transfer assets across different platforms.

Web3 Open Metaverse Alliance OMA3

"We believe in a metaverse without high walls, where various platforms can connect with each other and operate interactively. In order to achieve the goal of an open metaverse, we announce the creation of OMA3 and invite all blockchain-based metaverse companies to join," OMA3 stated.

According to the OMA3 official announcement, the alliance will operate in a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) model, with standards set to focus on real ownership and real-time interoperability.

Furthermore, infrastructure will be built to ensure that the metaverse operates in accordance with a unified system. Users' digital assets, identities, and data will be self-custodied and can be transferred to any OMA3 virtual world without permission.

Currently, OMA3's members include well-known metaverse IPs in the industry such as The Sandbox, Decentraland, Star Atlas, and Alien Worlds, as well as DAO framework developer Wivity, VR and game developer Space, and blockchain gaming company Upland, with more partners to be added in the future.

OMA3 Plans to Join Metaverse Standards Forum

One month prior to the establishment of OMA3, several Web2 companies jointly organized the Metaverse Standards Forum, hosted by the Khronos Group. Members include Meta, Microsoft, Alibaba, Sony, NVIDIA, and other major enterprises, aiming to accelerate the testing and adoption of metaverse standards and establish consistent terminology and deployment guidelines.

According to The Block, OMA3 plans to join the Metaverse Standards Forum after the consolidation.
