Pixelmon, an NFT project with 200,000 followers, issued an apology directly after the minting, with netizens mocking: "Is this the quality we get for a 3 ETH minting price?"

The competition in NFT projects is fierce, and it is not easy to stand out as a top NFT project that will last sustainably; building community consensus, planning a road map, declaring entry into the metaverse, integrating token rewards, and following up with NFT project airdrops/whitelisting qualifications have become standard practices, but with greater vision comes greater responsibility.

The NFT project Pixelmon with 200,000 followers on Twitter, aims to create a high-quality NFT gaming world. In its early teaser trailer, it presents an adventure game reminiscent of the Legend of Zelda, with characters and worlds in a three-dimensional pixel art style. It achieved a milestone in its initial Dutch auction by selling at a high price of 3 ETH per unit, now valued at over seven million US dollars.

Quality of Blind Box Content Questioned, Prices Plummet

Twitter user @zachxbt stated, "This project raised so much money, but the contents of the blind boxes turned out like this. I think it's reasonable to say that all buyers have been deceived." He also called on people to stop supporting projects that only care about money.

Here is an example of an NFT case that left him disappointed; other visuals can be found on OpenSea.

In response to this outcome, the founder of Pixelmon issued a direct apology. The team stated that they made a terrible mistake by opening the blind boxes before they were fully prepared. Due to OpenSea's restrictions on 3D images, they had to lower the specifications to meet the requirements, resulting in the content looking like a bad game from the 90s. However, the actual game is not like that, and they are still working on development. @zachxbt, however, could not accept this explanation, stating that the team guaranteed five days ago that it would be a fully interactive 3D character.

As of the deadline, Pixelmon's floor price has dropped to 0.6 ETH.

Team Members Invest Raised Funds in Bored Ape Yacht Club and CloneX

Twitter user @zachxbt discovered from on-chain data that 1000 ETH from the team's funds were transferred to a multi-address managed treasury, with one address using 400 ETH to purchase high-priced NFTs such as MAYC, BAYC, CloneX, and Azuki. The team also admitted that it was the development team's wallet. As a result, @zachxbt was extremely disappointed in the team's commitments and actions.

In the past during the ICO era, there were numerous teams that raised large amounts of funds without making progress in development. With NFT projects promising more functionalities and applications beyond just visuals, the time pressure on development will become more intense. If NFT players encounter projects with grand promises, they should carefully evaluate factors such as feasibility, application necessity, market demand, and the team's sense of responsibility.
