The Simpsons Halloween Special Teaser Reveals Several NFT Blue-Chip Projects: BAYC, CryptoPunks Included

Bart Simpson Turns into NFT, Mom Ventures into Blockchain World to Rescue Him

In the episode "Wild Barts Can’t Be Token," Homer, the protagonist of the Simpson family, accidentally digitizes his son Bart into an NFT. His wife Marge bravely ventures into the blockchain world to rescue their son.

After making a mistake, Homer returns home and tells his wife Marge:

Remember how we always hoped Bart wouldn't be easily replaceable, less fungible? Well, now he's an NFT, one of a kind.

Many Blue-Chip NFT Projects Join Forces

Mom Marge later "transforms into an NFT" and is sent to the blockchain world, finding herself on a train full of blue-chip projects, where she is informed that this is not a blockchain but a BlockTrain.

The Simpsons Mock NFTs

Marge is trapped in a carriage but doesn't sit idly by. She accidentally crushes an NFT to death and is then transported to another carriage.

She notices her price has increased, and the NFT CryptoKitties in the new carriage explain to her that this situation is called "burning" in the crypto space.

Understanding the mechanism, Marge goes on a killing spree, continuously destroying NFTs and being sent to carriages with higher average NFT prices in search of her son Bart.

Bored Apes Turn into Foot Washers

In the end, Marge finds her son and they escape the BlockTrain back to the real world.

The Bored Apes only appear after Bart leaves. Despite being a blue-chip NFT project, in the show they are depicted as low-end servants, either serving food, giving massages, or washing their master's feet.

The Simpsons "Devalues" Bored Apes, Artwork Is True NFT?

NFT collector Noah Bolanowski expresses his admiration for the setup of this episode of The Simpsons.

Especially the devaluation of most PFP NFT projects in the show, heavily satirizing the hype around NFTs; while works by artists like Beeple are showcased as artworks in the show.
