Spotify tests new feature! Personal pages can promote music NFTs, but community reception seems unfavorable.

The popular music streaming platform Spotify is currently conducting surveys with its users related to NFTs and testing new features that allow artists to promote music NFTs on their personal profiles.

Spotify NFT Feature

The leading music streaming platform Spotify has been actively venturing into the Web3 and NFT space. In early May, it launched "Spotify Island" on Roblox, where users can interact with their favorite artists in this virtual world. (source)

Furthermore, according to a report from the music industry publication Music Ally, Spotify is conducting a test that allows some artists to promote their existing third-party NFT products through their personal pages. Artists such as early NFT adopters Steve Aoki and The Wombats are part of this test.

However, only NFT previews are provided on the artist's profile page, and purchases must be made through external markets. Spotify's current goal is not to profit from selling NFTs but is simply in the testing phase of allowing artists interested in selling NFTs to promote them on their platform.

Community Response to NFTs is Negative

While Spotify's test may seem well-intentioned and indicative of the company's ambitions, some of the community feedback reveals their disapproval of Spotify's initiative.

Many users who received the Spotify NFT survey are expressing their opposition on Twitter, believing that this is not the most appropriate action for Spotify to take at the moment, and some have even mentioned considering canceling their subscriptions.
