Nike and Adidas enter the metaverse, "adiVerse" releases NFTs and joins Sandbox

After Facebook announced its rebranding to Meta, the metaverse instantly became the hottest concept. The well-known sports brand Nike announced the creation of a virtual headquarters NIKELAND through Roblox; adidas also collaborated with the digital badge project POAP to issue NFTs.

NIKELAND

Nike announced on 11/18 the launch of its virtual global headquarters NIKELAND on the large multiplayer online game platform Roblox, aiming to combine sports and entertainment into a lifestyle through Roblox's immersive 3D space.

Players can engage in games like "The floor is lava" and dodgeball with friends, while creators can easily design their own mini-games using interactive sports materials.

In addition, NIKELAND allows players to dress their characters in special Nike products in the digital showroom, such as classic shoes like Air Force 1 and Nike Blazer.

Nike emphasizes that NIKELAND breaks one of the biggest barriers in sports, which is accessibility, as anyone can visit and experience it through Roblox.

On the other hand, competitor Adidas's layout in the metaverse is more closely related to the crypto field, including NFTs issued in collaboration with POAP and virtual land on The Sandbox.

adiVerse

Prior reports provide more detailed information on POAP, which offers a convenient tool for event organizers and participants to issue or acquire NFTs representing event participation records.

POAP stands for Proof of Attendance Protocol, set as "badges of life experiences recorded on the blockchain." Event organizers can customize the badge's style and send it to event participants, with the immutability and uniqueness of the NFT record being the characteristics of blockchain event badges.

Adidas Originals released an NFT titled "Our future begins here" on POAP on 11/17, mentioning in the description:

If you are seeking a new playground of infinite possibilities, we invite you to join us on the Metaverse. This digital collectible rewards your curiosity and marks the beginning of your journey. Keep it safe, it may come in handy.

Adidas Originals emphasizes that this is the first step in empowering creators to grow in the Metaverse, ending with the crypto slang: "We All Gonna Make It, WAGMI."

Furthermore, Adidas announced its presence on the 12X12 144 parcels of land in The Sandbox's SAND land today, which is designated by The Sandbox. In terms of nearby open land prices, one parcel costs 3 ETH.

The two parties are engaging on Twitter. The Sandbox calls out to Adidas, stating that nothing is impossible in the metaverse.

In response, Adidas asks, "What should we build together in The Sandbox?"

The brief exchange between the two parties leaves a lot of room for imagination for future collaborations, with the SAND token rising by 36% in a single day, and up by 257% since November.
