Bitcoin halving discussion suddenly surges overnight, even Twitter founder joins in.

With less than three weeks until the Bitcoin halving, the keyword "Bitcoin halving" on Twitter has surpassed the frequency of "Wuhan pneumonia." It has become the most discussed topic on Twitter, with even Twitter founder Jack Dorsey joining the community in the excitement.

Spike in Discussions about Halving Overnight

According to data released by the cryptocurrency social sentiment analysis platform TheTIE on April 23, the keyword "halving" appeared 650 times in tweets related to Bitcoin (BTC) on Twitter, ranking as the 9th most popular topic. Meanwhile, tweets containing the keyword "gold" numbered around 690.

However, the following day saw a nearly 10% surge in Bitcoin's price in a short period, doubling the number of discussions about Bitcoin halving. This topic quickly became the second most popular Bitcoin-related discussion on Twitter overnight, with a total of 1,058 related tweets. Additionally, reports related to Bitcoin halving continued to increase in April. In response, Joshua Frank, co-founder of TheTIE, publicly shared data comparing the number of articles and reports on the topics of "COVID-19," "gold," and "halving."

It can be observed that articles related to the topics of "halving" and "gold" remained relatively stable in the fourth quarter of 2019, began to grow in mid-January, but were overshadowed by the rise of COVID-19 as the main topic in March. However, Frank mentioned in an interview that discussions about halving now seem to surpass those about COVID-19:

"We can see that since March, COVID-19 has become a major topic linked to Bitcoin, but recently, with the significant increase in discussions about halving, the discussions on COVID-19 are starting to decline."

Twitter Founder Joins the Excitement

Notably, as the Bitcoin community buzzes with excitement over the Bitcoin halving, the founder of Twitter also joined in on the celebration by adding a brief "#Bitcoin" to his profile.
