The analytical data comes from over 150 participants in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, as well as from the Canadian government and academia. This research was conducted by the Blockchain Research Institute (BRI) with the support of Accenture, a specialized business firm.
They carefully analyzed the blockchain ecosystem in Canada segmented by region and company size, concluding that the industry urgently needs government commitment to propel this highly innovative technology sector forward by providing legal clarity. Don Tapscott, Chairman of BRI, stated:
While the research indicates that Canada's blockchain industry is diverse and evolving, it also faces challenges in funding, access to business services, and an uncertain regulatory environment.

Despite the report citing Canada's advantageous position as a global leader in the blockchain industry, the ecosystem still faces major challenges, including funding, lack of regulatory environment, insufficient public education, and minimal collaboration with banks and auditing services.
