Land Rover, the British automotive manufacturer, recounts 50 years of milestones: the birth of Bitcoin in 2009.

The renowned British car brand Land Rover, headquartered in the UK, recently released its 50th-anniversary advertisement on various social media platforms. The video reviews significant historical milestones from 1967 to the present, including the emergence of Bitcoin in 2009.

2009: The Birth of Bitcoin

On June 17th, Land Rover released this ad on Twitter, taking everyone on a light-hearted journey through many significant historical developments. Land Rover's Taiwan fan page also shared the ad, highlighting milestones such as:

  • 1967: World's First Heart Transplant
  • 1969: Moon Landing
  • 1970: The Beatles Breakup
  • 1972: UN Declaration on the Human Environment
  • 1977: Star Wars Premiere
  • 1989: Fall of the Berlin Wall
  • 1990: Berners-Lee Invents the World Wide Web
  • 2005: First Video Uploaded on YouTube

It was noticed that the English version shared on Twitter differed slightly from the version on Land Rover's Taiwan fan page. For instance, in 1972, the English version mentioned the legendary American swimmer Mark Spitz winning seven gold medals in a single Olympics, while the Taiwan version highlighted the UN Declaration on the Human Environment.

The English version in 2017 mentioned the appearance of a total solar eclipse in the US, while the Taiwan version highlighted the Constitutional Court's ruling on "Prohibition of Same-Sex Marriage Violates the Constitution," marking the first case of marriage equality in Asia.

The highlight, of course, is that in the 2000s, Bitcoin was born in 2009 (Bitcoin Network is Created).

Rising Popularity of Bitcoin

As Bitcoin continued to operate, the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization gained widespread recognition. The American animated series "The Simpsons" had mentioned Bitcoin as early as 2016. An episode of the American sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" also featured Bitcoin as a theme.

In early May, the American series "Billions" also incorporated the topic of Bitcoin, with a prosecutor debating the value support behind Bitcoin and the US dollar with a Bitcoin miner during questioning.

One of the most cited sources is "The Trust Machine - The Technology Behind Bitcoin That Is Changing the World," published by The Economist in 2015.

In fact, this isn't Land Rover's first involvement with cryptocurrencies. Land Rover was acquired by the Indian car manufacturer Tata Motors in 2008. Last year, it conducted tests with the Internet of Things project IOTA, attempting to integrate smart wallets with cars to share data such as traffic congestion, accidents, etc., and reward drivers with IOTA tokens. However, the company has not disclosed when this application will be officially released.
