FTX.US ramps up its presence in the U.S. market! The exchange has appointed a senior executive from global securities market maker Citadel as its inaugural chairman.

According to an official press release from FTX.US, the company will appoint Brett Harrison, a senior technology executive from the well-known global securities market maker Citadel, as the first Chairman of FTX.US.

FTX.US Appoints First President

Press release states that Brett Harrison's primary goal is to leverage his expertise in developing traditional financial technologies, work closely with the FTX.US leadership team, further establish FTX.US as a leading cryptocurrency exchange in the United States, and make FTX.US the most trusted digital currency trading platform and exchange in the U.S.

Brett Harrison previously worked with FTX.US co-founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried at Jane Street Capital. Subsequently, Brett Harrison joined the prominent market maker Citadel, where he served as a senior technology executive in areas such as ETFs, semi-automated trading, options, over-the-counter (OTC) trading, and American Depositary Receipts (ADRs).

Sam Bankman-Fried, co-founder and CEO of FTX.US, stated in the press release:

"When we were at Jane Street, Brett was always the developer we turned to first when we needed to deploy a system quickly. He combines excellent technical skills (much better than mine!) with a clear understanding of business needs and priorities. More importantly, he's a great person. I'm excited to work with him to help massively scale FTX.US."

Exchanges Actively Targeting the U.S. Market

As cryptocurrencies move towards mainstream and institutional adoption, more exchanges are looking to enter the U.S. market. Previously, cryptocurrency exchange Binance.US announced the hiring of former U.S. Senator and former U.S. Ambassador to China during the Obama administration, Max Baucus, as the exchange's government relations advisor to provide professional policy and government relations guidance, including assistance in maintaining closer ties with relevant U.S. regulatory bodies.

At the end of April this year, Binance.US further appointed Brian Brooks, a former senior executive at Coinbase and former Acting Comptroller of the Currency of the United States, as the new CEO of the exchange. The appointments of these high-profile executives highlight the importance that various exchanges are placing on the U.S. market.
