The well-known decentralized peer-to-peer network BitTorrent announced a strategic partnership with the blockchain live streaming platform DLive on its official Blog. As part of the collaboration, DLive, currently built on the Lino blockchain testnet, will be migrating to the TRON blockchain and merging with TRON's small live streaming platform, BitTorrent Live (BLive).

The parent company of the Lino network, ACE Protocol Foundation, also announced the strategic partnership with BitTorrent.

DLive was launched in September 2018 and has since garnered a large user base. According to data from Similarweb, the platform has over 3.5 million monthly visits. A collaboration with popular YouTuber PewDiePie in April this year significantly boosted user growth on the platform.

Justin Sun, CEO of TRON, commented on the partnership:

DLive is one of the best examples of integrating blockchain with digital media. We look forward to DLive joining TRON and BitTorrent's passionate global creator community to bring value to the world.

DLive CEO Charles Wayn also stated:

We are excited to be part of the BitTorrent ecosystem. With the expansion of new businesses, DLive takes a step closer to empowering creators and rewarding the community.

This marks TRON's third public acquisition. Previously reported by ABM, TRON first acquired BitTorrent in June 2018, followed by the acquisition of the well-established exchange Poloniex in November this year. Unlike previous high-profile acquisitions, TRON did not disclose the transaction amount behind the DLive acquisition.

As part of the transition, Lino Network and DLive will move away from the Lino blockchain. DLive has not yet announced the future direction of its LINO token, but it is expected that both platforms will utilize BitTorrent's BTT token, with detailed plans set to be released in January next year.
