Apple developing AI chatbot Apple GPT to catch up with the generative AI trend?

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is quietly developing an AI tool called "Apple GPT" to challenge OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Bard, Microsoft's Bing, and other generative AI products, but the company has not yet defined a clear strategy to release this technology to consumers.⁣

Apple Quietly Integrates AI into Its Products

Apple has always been low-key in the field of generative AI. Although the voice assistant Siri has been around for many years, there has not been a breakthrough. This year, as various companies are vigorously launching various AI products, Apple, in order to prevent the risk of confidential leaks, issued internal documents prohibiting employees from using ChatGPT or similar external large language model tools internally to avoid leaks caused by employees inputting confidential documents or data.

According to a report from CNBC, Apple CEO Cook stated in a recent interview that Apple is very concerned about AI technology. However, there are still "some unresolved issues" with AI technology. Although Apple has now integrated AI into its products, the public may not necessarily see these functions as artificial intelligence, but Apple is closely monitoring ChatGPT.

At this year's WWDC developer conference, Apple also promoted new applications of machine learning on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, such as AI models that can provide users with smart prompts to input potential diary entries, AI tools for automatic correction and dictation, and more comprehensive facial recognition capabilities.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple has built its own framework to create large language models, using the "Ajax" framework originally used by Apple to integrate internal machine learning. Apple's self-developed chatbot, referred to by engineers as "Apple GPT," can be seen as a challenge to OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Bard, and Microsoft's Bing.

Insiders have stated that in recent months, the promotion of AI has become a major focus for Apple, with multiple teams collaborating on this project. However, the company has not yet established a clear strategy to release this technology to consumers.

Yesterday, Apple's AAPL hit a new high of $198.22 in intraday trading, bringing its market value to a historical high!
