On the 26th, the Time magazine selected the "100 Most Influential Companies of 2021," which included the U.S. exchange Coinbase, the parent company of Grayscale Digital Currency Group, and PayPal.

Coinbase

The Savior of Cryptocurrency Reputation

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong

Time magazine pointed out that this year has been a bountiful year for the cryptocurrency industry, especially after Coinbase went public on Nasdaq on April 14th, reaching a market value of around $86 billion at the close of its first day, making it the most valuable financial exchange in the United States and boosting Wall Street's confidence in cryptocurrencies.

However, the article also mentions that if cryptocurrencies eventually turn into a bubble, Coinbase's value will plummet to zero.

Digital Currency Group

Dedicated to Mainstreaming Cryptocurrencies

In its introduction, Time magazine mentions that Digital Currency Group (DCG) is unveiling the mysteries of cryptocurrencies to investors, with its subsidiaries including Grayscale Investments and blockchain media CoinDesk.

However, Grayscale's Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) has faced unprecedented challenges, hitting historical lows recently with negative premiums, forcing DCG to plan to inject cash reserves into GBTC. They have even released job postings seeking ETF experts, claiming they will definitely transform GBTC into a Bitcoin ETF.

PayPal

Liberating Digital Wallets

PayPal CEO Dan Schulman

As cash is no longer king, business models that do not involve cash have greatly benefited PayPal. Operating in over 200 countries worldwide, under the leadership of Dan Schulman, PayPal processed a record-breaking 15.4 billion transactions totaling $936 billion over the past year.

In the past few months, both global payment giants PayPal and Visa have successively announced cryptocurrency-related business services this year. Like Coinbase, PayPal is also classified under the "Industry Titans" category in the top 100 companies.
