Ethereum test network Ropsten is scheduled to undergo a hard fork on June 8-9.

According to an announcement by the Ethereum Foundation, the Ethereum test network Ropsten is scheduled to merge at a Terminal Total Difficulty (TTD) of 50000000000000000. The announcement indicates that this test network, originally based on PoW consensus, may experience fluctuations in computing power; if all goes well, the merge is expected to take place on June 8-9. Synchronization of the execution layer client on Ropsten will also require several hours to days to complete the merge process.

Ropsten Hard Fork Successfully Completed on 6/9 Update

The Ropsten testnet has successfully undergone a hard fork today, with core developer Tim Beiko confirming on Twitter that transactions are proceeding smoothly. Additionally, it was noted that the Rinkeby testnet will not undergo a hard fork and will be shut down at the end of the year alongside Ropsten, while Kiln will be shut down after the mainnet merge. The Goerli and Sepolia testnets will be retained after the mainnet merge.
