After strong Bitcoin supporter Jack Dorsey stepped down, Twitter

After introducing the Bitcoin tipping feature, Twitter has now added support for Ethereum addresses. Since Twitter's co-founder Jack Dorsey stepped down as CEO, the platform seems to be focusing on promoting Ethereum-related applications rather than just Bitcoin.

New Support for Ethereum Addresses

According to a Twitter update on tipping policies, users can now send and receive tips through the iOS and Android apps, while the web version does not support this feature at the moment.

How to Start Receiving Tips?

Currently, the process can only be done through the app:

  • Edit your profile.
  • Click on the tipping feature at the bottom.
  • Enable "Allow Tips".
  • Add Bitcoin and Ethereum addresses.

Users must be at least 18 years old to send and receive tips, and tips will not replace subscription services like Super Follows and the paid audio feature Ticketed Spaces.

Twitter does not impose a limit on tip amounts, but third-party payment processors like Strike may have their own limits based on their terms of service.

Continued Integration of Ethereum Applications

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey unexpectedly resigned as CEO on November 30, and in January, Twitter announced NFT profile picture features for "Twitter Blue" subscribers.

Initially focused on implementing Bitcoin payment mechanisms, the tipping feature now also includes Ethereum addresses. This development raises questions about Jack Dorsey's stance on Bitcoin and the series of Twitter's advancements following his resignation as CEO.

Currently, Jack Dorsey has numerous ongoing projects, including a Bitcoin hardware wallet, a Bitcoin DeFi platform, an open-source Bitcoin mining system at Square, and the decentralized social platform project Bluesky.

Jack Dorsey has not commented on the tipping policy update.
